Glashütte Original releases new perpetual calendar
German-based watchmaker, Glashütte Original, has announced a new addition to the Senator Excellence collection.
The new Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar is a limited edition piece which features a skeletonised dial, giving insight into the mechanism within.
The original piece in the collection was released in 2016 and this new special edition takes inspiration from the Calibre 36.
Limited to 100 pieces, the new model gives the classic perpetual calendar a contemporary appearance.
Cut out from within the dimensions of the matte grey dial ring are the Panorama Date, moon phase, weekday, month and leap year displays, each accented with a stepped frame.
The central cut-out shifts the centre of attention to the technical aspects of the galvanic grey module cover plate, whose openings reveal the interplay of the calendar discs.
The Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition is set within a 42mm white gold case and features a matte grey dial ring with rhodium plated and polished index appliques.
Among the latter are the dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap, traditional blued hands, the moon phase display’s galvanic blue night sky, along with the printed blue minute numerals on the railroad chapter ring, and the leap year indicator.
Through the sapphire crystal on the back of the watch, the 36-02 automatic movement which features a power reserve of at least 100 hours, can be observed.
