The German Design Council awarded its renowned design prize to the watchmaking company for the automatic timepiece Tangente Sport neomatik 42 date

Triumph for Tangente Sport: The new self-winding watch from NOMOS Glashütte finished the German Design Award ceremony as “Winner.” With 1000 feet of water resistance, it is more than just a sporty version of a NOMOS design classic. This is according to the international jury of the German Design Award, who praised not only its famous typography and brand-new NOMOS Sport bracelet—which adds to the “unique character” of the timepiece—but also the “usage of cutting-edge technology with materials of the highest quality.”

Indeed, this timepiece is like a miniature vault: The stainless steel case and the sapphire crystal glass are around 20 percent thicker than in other models, and the sealing gasket has also been reinforced. The aim of the NOMOS watch developers and materials experts was maximal robustness—and, of course, creating a beautiful timepiece. Ticking within, securely protected, is the innovative NOMOS neomatik date caliber DUW 6101, an in-house built movement. It affords the watch its extra-large date display at three o’clock—and, naturally, excellent winding performance as well as precision.
